American artist Jeff Koons is widely recognized for his work dealing with popular culture and his sculptures of everyday objects, most notably balloon animals. This set of 3 balloon animals includes a rabbit (red), monkey (blue) and a swan (yellow). These highly reflective porcelain balloon animals are inspired by twisted rubber balloon animals and a continuation of his “Celebration Series” from the 1990s that included the iconic balloon dog. Koon’s playful mirror-finish sculptures have become one of the most iconic works of contemporary art.
“I’ve always enjoyed balloon animals because they’re like us,” Koons has said about the series, “We’re balloons. You take a breath and you inhale, it’s an optimism. You exhale, and it’s kind of a symbol of death.”
