Julian Opie (b. 1958) is a British artist internationally known for his bright, simplistic and stylized expression of human figures, animals and landscape. In his distinctive style, he depicts everyday experiences from contemporary life and the countryside in reduced schematic blocks of colors in constant motion. “Galloping Horses” is a set of three inlaid and overlaid acrylic panels depicting horse leaping. With thick black outlines he captures the movement and excitement of a galloping horse. The green background evokes the grass of a racetrack track or an open meadow. Inspired by rural subjects, Opie has also created artworks of sheep, fish, birds and forest trees.
